Once installed a judge could not tell. I took a newer made, nos from Trico lower cylinder, had it plated and used it along with the original to rebuild it into a pretty nice unit. I rebuild vacuum wiper motors as my full time job for decades.
I suggest you search sold listings on and see if any of the nos originals sold pass these tests. All I do is wipers. This is a Trico wiper motor for model a Ford SW Cabriolet and convertible sedan. Google sicken wiper for my web page info, or just ask Siri who rebuilds Trico wiper motors.
The original with bosses. That's the bad news, the good news is this motor runs well and will pass all judges standards once installed. The only thing it lacks are the 2 small square bosses that are on the back side against the windshield frame. This motor started as a true original motor that had a badly warped lower cylinder like all of them.
Notice the one photo where I give you a guide to what is in fact correct for model. The chrome is not perfect, I took many pictures all trying to show the chrome defects.
See photo for a comparison vs. 3 year warranty on this motor. Motor was built many months ago and still runs well this is the real test, a warped cylinder motor will run for a short while but will die within months. I have personally rebuilt tens of thousands of Trico vacuum wiper motors.
