Perfect for adding factory optional windshield washers to your Thunderbird. Ford motor company received complaints from 1955 Thunderbird owners that the pedal used to activate the windshield washers was so close to the headlight dimmer switch that drivers were often blinded at night when they attempted to operate the dimmer switch and accidentally activated the windshield washer. The core inside the cable which goes from the washer pump to the wiper motor does not move.
This was accomplished by a cable which went from the washer pump to the windshield wiper motor under the dash. This kit is uniquely Thunderbird and will fit all Thunderbird's. Also included is a copy of the installation instructions for this Thunderbird windshield washer kit with a template for drilling all of the holes to install the kit. The rebuilt washer pump has the correct, original metal end nut with the straight connection for the hose which goes to the washer bag, and not the aftermarket plastic end nut with a 90 degree hose connection to the washer bag.
The pump does have some pitting which you can see in the pictures. Ford remedied this problem late in 1956 by changing the windshield washer pump to a new design which also activated the windshield wipers when the washer pedal was depressed.
This is an complete Ford factory optional windshield washer kit which was used on late production 1956 Thunderbird's as well as all 1957 Thunderbird's.
